When disaster strikes, response time is everything—and so is having the right equipment.

Following recent severe weather and tornadoes that swept across Missouri, Draxxon is proud to see our custom-built response vehicles playing a crucial role in real-world emergency operations.

Missouri Task Force One (MO-TF1), a highly trained urban search and rescue team, recently returned from St. Louis after responding to the deadly tornadoes that tore through the region.

Their mission was critical: assess damage, search for survivors, and support coordination efforts amid the chaos.

Among the tools at their disposal were the DRAXXON DX-250 Disaster Response Vehicles that are built on a Ford F-250 Truck Chassis. They are custom-designed to meet the unpredictable and rugged demands of field deployment.

According to Jason Warzinik, Planning Section Chief for MO-TF1:

“Since taking delivery of the F-250s we have put them right to work—responding to recent severe weather, local fire and mutual aid callouts, as well as over the weekend to St. Louis for the tornado response. They even made the news a few times, and they have worked flawlessly! A big thank you again to you and the whole team for working with us and getting these custom trucks built!”

The team’s efforts were covered by multiple outlets, including ABC 17 News, with images and video footage showcasing the team and our trucks on the ground.

Why Custom Matters in Disaster Response

No two emergencies are alike. Whether responding to wildfires, floods, or in this case, devastating tornadoes, teams like MO-TF1 need tools that can be adapted to any scenario.

Off-the-shelf vehicles often lack the integrated systems and versatility needed for high-stress, high-stakes operations. That’s where Draxxon’s custom approach makes the difference.

For this particular deployment, the DX-250 Units were equipped to support a range of operations, including:

Field communications and network support

UAS (unmanned aerial system) transport and launch capabilities

Onboard power solutions for extended deployments

Storage for search-and-rescue and triage equipment

All-terrain suspension and build for rugged conditions

These enhancements enable responders to operate independently in areas where infrastructure has failed or is nonexistent. The mobile command trucks don’t just get the team there; they become part of the mission itself.

Tornado Disaster Response: Real-World Validation

The recent tornado disaster response in St. Louis was a sobering reminder of nature’s unpredictability and power. In the aftermath, images of debris-strewn streets and collapsed buildings dominated the headlines. What’s often less visible is the behind-the-scenes coordination that allows emergency services to work efficiently, especially when communications are down, power grids are compromised, and time is of the essence.

MO-TF1’s deployment to the tornado zone wasn’t just another assignment; it was a test of equipment, readiness, and resilience. Our DX-250 units weren’t sitting idle. They were actively moving personnel and equipment through storm-damaged terrain, supporting drone missions, and serving as mobile hubs for situational awareness and logistics.

Jason Warzinik’s feedback isn’t just praise; it’s validation. These mobile command trucks are more than vehicles; they’re critical assets in time-sensitive operations.

Designed for Those Who Go First

Draxxon designs every custom DX Unit with one thing in mind: supporting the men and women who show up first and before anyone else knows the scale of the emergency.

From first responders and law enforcement to search-and-rescue teams and emergency managers, our vehicles are tools that make those jobs safer, smarter, and more effective. We don’t just build mobile command centers, we build mission-ready solutions that can be deployed at a moment’s notice.

And the best part? They work in the real world. Whether responding to tornadoes in Missouri or hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, Draxxon units have proven time and time again that they’re built for the job.

Strength Through Collaboration

The success of the DX-250 build for MO-TF1 is a direct result of collaboration between our engineers, their command staff, and the people who actually put the gear to the test.

We listened to what their team needed:

High mobility

Mission versatility

Reliability under pressure

And we worked together to design and deliver a system that exceeded expectations.

That spirit of partnership is at the core of everything we do at Draxxon.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. We believe in working hand-in-hand with our clients to build platforms that meet their unique challenges.

What’s Next for Mobile Command?

There is no shortage of severe weather events, and the demand for agile, tech-equipped response units is only going to grow. Draxxon is proud to be on the front lines of that evolution, building the next generation of mobile infrastructure for public safety, emergency response, and disaster recovery.

Whether you need a DX System for UAV operations, full-scale mobile command centers, or rapid-response trucks like those used by Missouri Task Force One, we’re constantly pushing the limits of what’s possible.

If you’re looking to enhance your agency’s response capabilities or want to learn more about how Draxxon can help support your mission, contact us today. We’d be honored to help you build the tools that bring people home safe.

In challenging environments where traditional vehicles struggle, the need for a well-built and versatile off-road mobile command solution becomes essential.

Whether it’s navigating through rural landscapes, responding to natural disasters, or ensuring security at large outdoor events, your team needs to be able to move efficiently and safely.

The DX-Off Road Systems from Draxxon are specifically designed to help you do this. They’ll elevate your operational capabilities and provide the mobility and durability required for the most demanding situations.

Applications of the DX-Off Road Mobile Command Systems

Search and Rescue Operations: When lives are on the line, quick and reliable access to remote areas can make all the difference.

In many cases, search and rescue teams are called to rugged terrains such as farms, gravel paths, and dirt roads. The DX-Off Road Systems are engineered to chart their course effectively so first responders can reach those in need, no matter the environment.

Natural Disaster Response: In the aftermath of natural disasters, debris can block roadways, making them tough to navigate.

However, the DX-Off Road Systems are built to tackle these obstacles head-on. With features like enhanced suspension and powerful winches, they can clear paths and combat difficult conditions, providing the needed support during disaster recovery efforts.

Security at Large Outdoor Events: Managing security for large-scale outdoor events means teams need to move quickly and tread lightly across a variety of terrains.

The DX-Off Road Mobile Command Systems offer increased tactical capability and low observability, allowing security teams to monitor and respond to situations without relying on primary street routes.

This mobility is key to maintaining safety in fast-paced environments.

Increased Tactical Capability: For operations that demand a higher level of tactical precision, the DX-Off Road Systems deliver. They’re designed to operate efficiently in environments where traditional vehicles wouldn’t last. This means law enforcement and military personnel have the tools they need to succeed in critical missions.

Low Observability Operations: In certain scenarios, the ability to move discreetly is just as important as mobility.

The DX-Off Road Systems are equipped to handle low observability operations, allowing teams to navigate challenging terrains without drawing unwanted attention. This capability is especially valuable in missions where discretion is a priority.

DX-Off Road Mobile Command Packages: Tailored to Your Needs

Draxxon offers three levels of DX-Off Road Packages. Each package is designed to improve your base vehicle according to your specific operational requirements.

Level I Package

The foundation of the DX-Off Road System begins with the Level I Package, which includes an upgrade to an all-wheel-drive (AWD) base vehicle. This ensures that your vehicle has the traction and power needed to handle a variety of off-road conditions.

The package also includes aluminum alloy wheels and improved tires, like all-terrain or mud-terrain options, for better grip and durability on rough surfaces.

Level II Package

Building on the features of Level I, the Level II Package takes your vehicle’s capabilities to the next level. This package includes a 2 ½” suspension lift, improved shocks, and a rear axle adjustable air ride.

The benefits of these features include:

Enhanced Terrain Navigation: With a 2″ taller stance, the vehicle can operate larger tires, which smooth out rough terrain and provide better control.

Improved Angles: Increased approach, break-over, and departure angles allow the vehicle to navigate steep inclines and declines more effectively.

Superior Shock Absorption: VC-tuned Falcon 3.3 adjustable rear shocks offer 10 intuitive firmness settings, providing more effective control over large and small bumps.

Increased Stability: The increased rear spring rate fights sag, offering enhanced cornering stability and reduced wind sway, which is crucial for maintaining control during high-speed operations.

Level III Package

The ultimate in off-road capability, the Level III Package adds a range of advanced features designed to tackle the most challenging environments:

Bumper Replacements: Modified front and rear bumpers enhance durability and protection.

Off-Road Lighting: High-intensity discharge (HID) lighting ensures visibility in low-light conditions, a crucial factor for nighttime operations.

15,000# Winch: This provides the capability to clear obstacles such as fallen trees or large debris, as demonstrated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office during Hurricane Ian in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Level III Package also improves the vehicle’s suspension, raising the DX-1000’s height to clear over uneven terrain. This means better stability at both low and high speeds, and the operator can adjust the suspension to optimize performance for various tasks, including trailer towing.

Summary: Boone County Fire Protection District, in connection to Missouri Task Force 1, received a grant from the State Emergency Management Agency to support and deploy their team locally and at the state level for their UAS drone use and national disaster response. Jason Warzinik, the IT Division Manager, worked with Draxxon to craft a custom DX-1000 Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) – or mobile command unit – that would provide them with the space and features they need to conduct successful missions.

Local Team with Nationwide Responsibilities

The Boone County Fire Protection District serves its local community. It also responds at the state and national level to support search and rescue missions, structural collapses, and natural disasters.

To better support these missions, Jason Warzinik set out to find a vendor. He needed someone willing to work with their team and its unique needs in the field.

A Much-Needed Upgrade

While the Boone County Fire Protection District was already operating with a vehicle for its missions, it was small, cramped, and lacked critical features. They needed something to supplement the current vehicle. Something with more storage, more capabilities, and room to work.

So, Jason set out on a mission of his own. He spoke with multiple vendors but quickly realized that Draxxon was the best team for the job.

Enter Draxxon

Jason mapped out all of his team’s needs in his initial conversations with Draxxon. This included drone capabilities, GIS support, radio equipment, workstations, and storage space.

He explained that one of the main issues with their current vehicle was its size. It was small and lacked space to work and store essential equipment, like GIS printers and plotters.

As conversation continued, Jason was impressed with Draxxon’s approach.

Draxxon ensured they could meet his team’s needs and included Jason in the entire process. He worked closely with the design team to optimize every nook and cranny of the mobile command unit.

“One of the main reasons we went with Draxxon was their responsiveness all the way through the purchasing process to the design process. They were willing to tweak their base design to fit our final end needs.”

This was a much different approach than the other vendors Jason spoke to. They lacked the customizable options and approached their service with a “you get what we have” mentality.

So, when it came time to make the final decision, Jason was pleased to work with Draxxon to complete the project.

An Ongoing Partnership

Once their vehicle was up and running, Jason saw what it meant to be in a partnership with Draxxon.

Like any new piece of technology, there was a learning curve to the custom DX-1000 mobile command unit.

However, Jason noted that Draxxon was on top of their game when he called with an issue. Even though the Boone County Fire Protection District was deployed and in the field, the Draxxon team was able to troubleshoot the problem with a quick phone call.

Another time, the Draxxon team sent a repair technician out the night before a deployment. He made a minor repair to ensure everything was running smoothly for the task.

For Jason and his team, it’s comforting to know there is support when it’s needed.

The Custom DX-1000 Mobile Command Unit in Action

When Jason was asked to describe a scenario where their custom DX-1000 mobile command unit had been used, he pointed to a lost person search.

The team was able to deploy and fly the drone, and watch the feed on the screens all while inside the vehicle. This allowed the search managers to watch for the child and be a part of the search, rather than stand next to the person flying the little drone.

The enhanced visibility was crucial to the mission.

Draxxon’s Team Left a Strong Impression

With the custom features, newfound space, and support from the Draxxon team the Boone County Fire Protection District has the tools it needs to complete its missions.

“We’ve been thoroughly impressed with the quality of their work. They really maximize the space inside the vehicle. With their workmanship on the build quality and the usability of all the features, you can tell that they’ve spent a lot of time engineering the different components that they put into the truck.”

Summary:

Hamilton County STARS received a government grant, and had a unique opportunity to find the right command vehicle for its various rescue services. Clay Ingle from STARS, has over 40 years of experience in rescue operations, and knew the exact solution needed for his team. After working with Draxxon to obtain a DX-1000 Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV), the STARS team now has complete accountability for their team when they lead rescue operations.

High Expectations to Support Highly Important Mission

The Hamilton County Special Tactics and Rescue Services, Inc. (STARS) provide special tactical and technical support to area fire, rescue and police services throughout Chattanooga, Hamilton County Tennessee and the surrounding area. The STARS Team is a support group of the Hamilton County Emergency Services.

As their website states, they have responded to over 500 missions, supporting:

Local Fire, rescue and EMS

Local law enforcement

FBI, TBI, GBI, and other Tri-State Law Enforcement Agencies

Additional Assistance for Special Events

Clay Ingle is Chief of the Hamilton County STARS, and has seen a lot in his decades of experience. When it came time to find a new vehicle, he had high expectations.

An Exciting Command Vehicle Opportunity

The opportunity came for Ingle to assess options for a new vehicle when a government grant came through, allowing for an upgrade.

Clay was thrilled to upgrade from the STARS’ 2001 van to a support vehicle that met their requirements for a command center.

Enter Draxxon’s Mobile Command Vehicle

Clay first heard of Draxxon through another government agency who had good things to say.

He reached out and was immediately impressed by Draxxon’s responsiveness and their attentiveness to STARS’ needs.

“We met with Draxxon and it was very easy working with them because they understood what we needed,” Clay said. “They took time to listen to our needs. In this situation we specifically needed a command truck, and our number one priority was accountability.”

Draxxon naturally fit the role, offering both off-the-shelf and fully customizable solutions in its DX-1000 designs. It can be as simple as a single person point of command station. Or as complicated as a multi-agency point of global command and control systems. All of this uses a wide array of technology.

Specific Command Vehicle Needs and Desires

Clay didn’t approach Draxxon with vague ideas. He had a vision in mind from the start. What he needed was to work with a team that could bring this vision to life.

“I’ve been in emergency services for over 40 years, so I had a very specific idea of what I wanted,” Clay said. “I couldn’t have been more impressed with the Draxxon team, as they were able to provide exactly what I needed.”

“It was a great experience all the way through, and they made sure to take the time to understand our goals.”

Priority #1: Accountability

Clay explained that accountability was his number one priority. In the rescue field means being able to account for each individual that’s out on the mission.

His vision for the MCV was to have a section dedicated solely to accountability, which was achieved through the Draxxon DX-1000.

Clay explained that they used the entire back of the DX1000 for accountability.

“This allows us to constantly keep up with all of the people who are out and track each person,” he said. “An infinite commander will be inside the MCV and be informed on where every single person is.”

“Having the accountability station was essential for us, and it works exactly as we’d hoped,” Clay said.

‘The DX-1000 Does Everything I wanted it to’

While the back of the DX-1000 is used for accountability, it also has the exterior drivers side front for a briefing area. The exterior briefing area features a daylight viewable display to provide relevant data and imagery to others on scene. The vehicle interior provides operators with comfortable, secure command and control positions. We achieve an entirely new level of SITUATIONAL AWARENESS by using a wide variety of sensors and technology.

“The DX-1000 does everything we wanted it to,” Clay said. “I can’t brag enough about the work they did. Or how helpful they’ve been in getting this van exactly how we wanted it. The Draxxon team are great people, and I’d highly recommend them for anyone who has an opportunity to get a rescue vehicle.”
